Description

Yin yoga is a slow, quiet and meditative practise, with a focus on the hips, pelvis and lower spine, using props to support the body and allow it to open up, while quietening the mind. By holding poses for 3-5 minutes, the connective tissue surrounding the muscles is stimulated, helping it to become more flexible and supple, and the joints are nourished. Yin is open to all levels and is a fantastic way to bring balance to a dynamic, Yang practise such as Vinyasa. The challenge of letting go and surrendering in a Yin class, being with the sensations in the body and the breath, can be much harder than arm balances and inversions. We will end with a soothing meditation and Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation) to leave you feeling grounded, and restored.
