About this Event

Mental health and wellbeing in the legal profession has long been a taboo subject. In recent years, the conversation around lawyers' mental health has finally started to open up... but we still have a long way to go.

How do we prevent "wellbeing" from becoming a buzzword? How can lawyers request reasonable adjustments? Are we taking the effects of bullying and harassment on mental health seriously? We hope to discuss this & lots more.

We are excited to be welcoming some wonderful speakers:

  • District Judge Helen Conway, a judge at Liverpool County Court and mental health advocate
  • Franck Magennis, Head of Legal at Legal Sector Workers United (LSWU), a union seeking to improve working conditions and employment rights within the sector, and barrister at Garden Court Chambers

There will then be a small group breakout session where participants can share their personal experiences in a safe space should they wish to do so, and think about what practical measures can be introduced to support lawyers' mental health.

The event will end with a seated yoga session led by Manoj Koeri: https://b-m.facebook.com/manoj.ji.yoga/
