Monthly Yoga Book Club

3-4.30pm

Saturday 15th July, 12th August, 16th September, 7th October

For the ultimate feel-good Saturday afternoon, Yoke is launching a monthly yoga book club. It will involve an hour of gentle vinyasa flow to relax us and forget our to-do lists and daily stress, followed by sitting down to discuss a good book. Each month we’ll choose a book we love or suggestions from you that we think it would be fun to talk about. It’s not an English exam – if you haven’t finished (or even started!) it – no problem! We thought it would be a nice way to get to know our fellow yogis a bit better. Like yoga, books teach us about ourselves and the world around us, and can transport us to places we never imagined. Why not share that?

Our next choice of book is the perfect summer read to make you feel like you're on hols in Italy rather than in a yoga studio in Dalston!

When Kit loses her mother in tragic circumstances, she feels drawn to finally connect with the father she has never met. That search brings her to the Thousand Lights Hotel, the perfect holiday escape perched upon a cliff on the island of Elba. Within this idyllic setting a devastating truth is brought to light: shaking the foundations upon which the hotel is built, and shattering the lives of the people within it.

A heartbreaking story of loss, betrayal, and redemption, told with all the warmth and beauty of an Italian summer.

Finishing with a discussion and Italian themed snacks in honour of all the amazing food in the book this will be a super fun one! You can order a copy of The Thousand Lights Hotel from our local bookshop, Burley Fisher Books on Kingsland Rd http://burleyfisherbooks.com/ or Rachel has five copies of the book to give away to the first five students to sign up to class.

In her dual career as a literary agent and yoga teacher, Rachel is passionate about sharing how yoga can aid concentration and imagination, teach you to really sit comfortably, relax and clear your mind - not to mention stretch out those rounded bookworm spines. Absolutely no yoga experience (or an English Literature degree) required. Mats, props provided.
