In the aftermath of Turkey's 1980 coup d'état, five prisoners are given a week's home leave. Each of them encounters the harshness of repression in a society where honour and tradition remain paramount.
Written and directed from prison by legendary Kurdish filmmaker Yılmaz Güney, Yol (The Road) won the 1982 Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and was banned in Turkey until 1999.
The screening on October 2nd will be hosted by Tottenham Green Councillor Makbule Gunes, and will include a post-screening discussion hosted by the daughter of the late director.
Further screenings will take place every Sunday in October.
