YoRIC May 2022 meet-up
Date and time
YoRIC May 2022 meet-up : York's bid for Great British Railways HQ, and Navigating the organisations and initiatives supporting innovation
About this event
We’re back!
I am pleased to announce we’re resuming our meet-ups in person, with the next event taking place on Thursday 12th May in York.
We’ll be covering two topics:
York’s Bid to be home to Great British Railways HQ
We will be joined by Claire Foale, Assistant Director Policy and Strategy at City of York Council.
Claire will outline why York is bidding to be the new home of Great British Railways, why GBR should choose York, and the benefits it would bring to York and the wider area.
Aside from learning about the bid itself, this will be a great insight into the role of rail in the local economy and York’s rail credentials.
Navigating innovation initiatives and organisations
We welcome Richard Carr, Business Engagement Manager, from RIA (Rail Industry Association) North and Daisy Chapman-Chamberlain, Rail Knowledge Transfer Manager, from Innovate UK.
There are a range of organisations and initiatives to support innovation, and bringing new ideas to rail; alongside facilitating new suppliers entering the market, and supporting existing suppliers.
You may have heard of RIA, UKRINN, KTN, Innovate UK, NRIL / RIA North or even YoRIC (!) – but what do these organisations do? how do they fit together? and how can they help you?
We’ll learn about the organisations, their roles, initiatives underway, opportunities to get involved, the different lifecycle stages they target, and how they fit together.
Where & When?
Where: West Offices, Station Rise, York YO1 6GA
When: Arrive from 5pm, for a 5:15pm start.
We expect to finish the presentations/Q&A by about 6.15pm – 6:30pm, and we’ll then move to a local hostelry for further networking over a few drinks.
