🌍 Connecting locals and internationals in York 🌍Join us every Thursday evening, 7 – 9 pm, for the York Language Exchange, where we meet each week to practise new languages, share cultures, and make new friends. See pics of our previous events on Instagram and chat with other members in our WhatsApp group before you arrive.

🙋 Who is this for?All languages and levels are welcome, and we’re inclusive of all ages, nationalities, and backgrounds. Whether you’re a seasoned polyglot, a Duolingo beginner, or you just want to socialise, you’ll be welcomed into our community of language lovers and international friends.

🙌 What to Expect• Language Practice: Our hosts help you find partners for Spanish, Italian, Arabic, Mandarin, English, or any other language.• Friendly Hosts: Look for the orange lanyard at the entrance and pick up a label to write the languages you speak and want to learn.• Inclusive Atmosphere: Come alone or with friends, most people arrive solo and everyone’s friendly.• Socialising: Enjoy Valhalla’s craft ales or mead while chatting in multiple languages.

👋 How does it work?

1. Arrive any time between 7 – 9 pm. No registration needed.
2. Create your Language Label. Write your name, languages you’re learning, and languages you can help with.
3. It’s free! Buy a drink to support the venues, and it's really good!
4. Start talking! Our hosts will introduce you to others with matching language interests.

📌 Where are we?We’re normally upstairs in “All Father Hall” at Valhalla, 4 Patrick Pool, York YO1 8BB Valhalla – York – Bar – Cafe. Always check this event listing or our WhatsApp group in case of a rare venue change.

💡 Important Info: Please ignore attendee numbers on Meetup or Facebook. Because we meet at the same time and place every week, many regulars don’t RSVP online.

FAQ• Who is this for? Anyone interested in languages, from complete beginners to fluent speakers.• Do I need to sign up? No, just come along (WhatsApp is handy for updates).• Can I come alone? Absolutely! Many people come solo, and it’s a great way to meet new friends in a relaxed environment.• How do I know if language X, Y, Z will be spoken? With so many people coming to our events, most of the more popular languages will always be present, however if you want you can also check on our whatsapp group or Facebook group to see who is coming for a particular date.• What if I don’t speak multiple languages?
