York Rivers Trail: A Creative Walk Shaping the Stories of Water, Climate
Join us for the soft launch of the York Rivers Trail - a new way to experience the rivers that shape our city. Blending art, science and local voices, this self-guided trail explores how York is responding to the climate crisis through creativity, nature-based solutions, and community action.
This guided walk takes us along a short stretch of the River Ouse, starting at North Street Gardens, home of the iconic Viking Recorder, and finishing just beyond Scarborough Bridge, near the city’s emerging riverside pathway. Along the way, we’ll stop to reflect on stories of flooding and resilience and explore how the river connects us across time and space.
As we walk, we invite you to help shape the future of the trail. Through short conversations, written reflections and creative prompts, your ideas will feed directly into how we interpret the trail for others - from York residents to global visitors.
Expect an hour of connection, conversation and new perspectives on York’s rivers. The walk will start at 10.00 am and repeat at 12.00 am.
