Event description
Yorkshire Landscape photography workshop in the iconic location of South Gare nr Redcar. Where industry meet the natural beauty of the cost

About this event

Have you ever seen a beautiful landscape in your head and found it difficult to translate it into your camera settings so that what you see in your head is what you get on your camera or print? Do you find composition confusing, how to connect your foreground to your midground to your background, if so this is the perfect landscape photography workshop for you.

There are some stunning landscapes in god’s own county of Yorkshire, I will guide and inspire you teaching you how to capture stunning landscapes, I'll teach you about composition, how to connect different parts of the landscape together, teach you how to use camera filters and how to assess the correct exposure. I will also help you simple steps in adobe lightroom on the day out in the field to complement and finish the process of taking a stunning landscape.

This Landscape photography experience takes place in one of North Yorkshires' hidden gems South Gare. South Gare is a place full of natural beauty and has a huge industrial history, crossed with the beauty of the north Yorkshire coast. This is an ideal opportunity to extend your portfolio with stunning landscapes.

Testimonial:

Hi Keith.. I just wanted to say THANKYOU so very much for a fantastic day.  The location was excellent and the time and care you gave me throughout the day was just brilliant. I was a bit apprehensive as a beginner coming on the course but you made me very welcome and my lack of experience was no barrier as you helped me negotiate some of the intricacies of my camera.

Looks like street photography for me next!.

Thanks again.Eddie, Durham

Organiser Keith Moss: Keith Moss Photography

Organiser of Yorkshire Landscape Photography Workshop at South Gare, Redcar.

I love photography, I absolutely love it I know it’s a cliche but it’s my passion. Ask me to choose which is my favourite genre of photography and I would say that would be like asking a parent which is their favourite child. So I will say that my favourite genre of photography is the one I’m doing at the time. If I’m doing street photography I’m in the zone and loving that, If im doing landscape photography I’m being fulfilled loving that, if I’m doing portrait photography whether in the street or in the studio… well you get the picture.

I’ve been lucky enough to have been able to do photography as my job as well as my hobby. Over the last 30 years I’ve worked for many companies working nationally and internationally and for many blue-chip companies such as Unilever, Hilton International Hotels, Barker and Stonehouse, Laura Ashley and Mercabarna which is a wholesale market in Barcelona. I’ve learnt a lot, mostly on the job in the early days to be honest. I didn’t study photography at collage or university I studied it on the job, so to speak. Learning on the job made me think differently and quickly having to solve problems there and then which turned out to be a great advantage.Early on in my career I was a bit embarrassed about being self taught as people seemed to judge me on it but when they saw me work and the images I produced they soon changed their opinion. So I’m proud to say that I’m self taught, I’ve made mistakes but learnt from them and in the days before digital that was expensive both in time and in film. I bought my first camera, an Olympus OM10 and I’d spend days and days just going out and about and in the studio practising, experimenting and learning using both colour and black and white film and then when digital arrived learning that too.

I’ve worked with some of the industry’s most prestigious photography brands, Leica UK, Phase One, and I’m very proud to say that I’m also an Ilford Photo Artisan Partner. They asked me back in 2012 to join this very small group of photographers and obviously jumped at the chance. You can find some of my work for sale there at House of Ilford.

Now I enjoy passing on my experience and the tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way. Teesside university, Newcastle College, Northumbria university, South Essex College, York university and Cleveland College of art and design are among a few Universities and colleges where I’ve really enjoyed being a guest lecturer and run photography workshops

I’ve also mentored many professional photographers through Digital City and Redcar and Cleveland Enterprise and from time to time have contributed to several physical and online photography magazines like Professional Photographer, Amateur Photographer, Digital Photographer, and Photography for Beginners.

My main focus for my workshops is that you enjoy them and have fun and go away feeling a more confident with your own photography. I teach in a practical way showing you how to do things rather than in a classroom sort of environment, there’s no technical language or jargon used and I keep my workshops small so that I can give you plenty of one to one time.

So if you fancy having a go at street photography including street portraiture or dabbling in the darkroom, it would be great to see you.

If you’d like to see some of my work take a look at my website, like my page on Facebook, follow me on twitter or subscribe to my youtube channel.
