Event description

Description

Regional money advice group open to anyone working or volunteering in the free debt advice sector.

3 CPD points in the meetings & forums category for accredited IMA members and MASDAP-funded advisers.

The day includes:

- Legal and advice update from Shelter Specialist Debt Advice Service

- Janet Howley, Homeowner Support Team Manager at Wakefield Council, on their Mortgage Breathing Space scheme and MAS project under the ‘What Works Fund’

- Alison Blackwood, senior policy and campaigns advocate at StepChange, and Ed McDonagh (TBC), policy researcher at Citizens Advice, both speaking on recent bailiff research and campaign work.

- Information exchange. This time we're asking everyone to bring bailiff cases along - bad practice, unusual situations, problems you've had dealing with bailiffs, and ideas about what needs to change to improve these. We'll then be compiling all your ideas into a YNLMAG response to the current MoJ bailiff consultation, and hopefully giving you some ideas about making your own responses. The deadline for this is 17th February, and making your own response gets CPD points.
