Empowering NHS organisations to achieve workforce diversity and inclusion in the current changing NHS landscape’

Hosted by Yorkshire and the Humber Regional NHS Equality and Diversity Leads Network in an award winning, leading-edge conference venue in the centre of Leeds, the conference will provide national and local leadership, information and support in some of the most challenging areas of diversity and inclusion:

  • Trans and Non-Binary
  • Bullying and Harassment
  • Talent Management

Delegates will in addition have an opportunity to attend an Unconscious Bias Workshop.

The Programme

The Network is delighted to confirm a host of keynote speakers and session leads who will provide the latest updates, challenge current thinking and provide practical support to bring about real change. The Network is also honoured to have Professor Carol Baxter CBE as Chair of the event. Carol was awarded a CBE in 2009 for services to equal opportunities in health care and inducted into the Nursing Times Nursing Hall of Fame in 2010.

Dr Richard Saundry Professor in Human Resource Management & Employment Relations at Plymouth University, a lead academic expert in the management of workplace conflict.

Morvia Gooden, Programme Lead for Inclusion at the NHS Leadership Academy, provides leadership and support in breaking through the glass ceiling’: ‘The glass ceiling is only cracked - let’s smash it!’

Guy Thomas, Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) and Regional Officer at the Royal College of Nursing in the East Midlands, contributes to development of policy and guidance on trans and non-binary healthcare locally and nationally on behalf of the RCN. Guy has presented at the World Professional Association of Transgender Health symposium in Oslo, developed a Trans Awareness training resource in conjunction with the local NHS Trust as part of their Stonewall Star Performers agenda and is part of NHS England Gender Services Symposium.

Saorsa-Amatheia Tweedale, West Yorkshire Trans and Gender Equality Voluntary and Public Sector Advisor, instrumental in development of the West Yorkshire Trans Equality Index and good practice in NHS organisations.

Dean Royles, Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust and Co-Chair of Yorkshire and Humber HR Directors Network, a leading figure in Human Resources within the NHS for nearly two decades including former Chief Executive of NHS Employers and Chair of the Board of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and voted UK’s Most Influential HR Practitioner in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
