Come and join our specialist Perinatal Pelvic Health team in this education class to learn about the importance of taking care of your pelvic floor during pregnancy and childbirth.
Who can attend?
This online class is designed for people identified as having 'risk factors' for pelvic floor issues during pregnancy. It is for those who have been recommended to attend by their midwife or doctor.
If you have no known 'risk factors' factors but are keen to learn more about pelvic health, you are also welcome to book a place.
This online class is not only for those who are planning to have a vaginal birth as pregnancy affects the pelvic floor whatever type of birth you have.
Please do attend if you are planning to have your baby in the following hospitals.

- Princes Royal University Hospital (PRUH)
- University Hospital Lewisham
- Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Woolwich)
What does the class cover?
This session will include:
- What is the pelvic floor
- What is the pelvic floor
- How does pregnancy and childbirth can change things
- Symptoms to look out for
- How to strenghten your pelvic floor
- Caring for your bladder and your bowels
- Techniques to reduce the risk of perineal tears
- Caring for yourself after birth
When to attend:
We recommend you attend as early in your pregnancy as possible to get the most benefit.
Registration:
You can join using a smart phone laptop or computer using WiFi or data.
The course is conducted over a secured platform

You will need your Hospital ID Number when registering.
We will ask for some background information from you for auditing purposes (age, due date, ethnicity, borough of residency)to make sure we are reaching all parts of the community.

Once you are registered you will receive a link to join the class approximately 24 hours prior to the event
During the session:
- You will be asked to mute your microphones for the main session
- You will have the chance to ask questions and you will also be able to post questions on the chat function
