Event description
You Are What You Eat: Food and Identity from the Middle Ages to the Modern. 17th and 18th of June 2021.

About this event

Join us for the conference, You Are What You Eat: Food and Identity from the Middle Ages to the Modern, held virtually by the University of Warwick's Food and Drink Reading Group on the 17th and 18th of June 2021!

The relationship between what we eat and how we see both ourselves and others has been the source of much scholarly interest in recent years. The adage ‘you are what you eat’ encapsulates an attitude towards food and drink that was as true in the medieval period as it is today: that what we consume both transforms and defines us.

This two-day conference will cover a wide breadth of topics relating to food and identity, ranging from nutrition to colonialism and covering a period from twelfth-century France to Brexit Britain. Click here to see the full programme.

This event is free but registration is required. Attendance is limited so be sure to get your ticket and check your email for your order confirmation.
