Event description

Description

Knowing what to do isn't the same as being able to do it. Are you the parent or professional supporting a young person who exhbits challenging or aggressive behaviours? Or just a parent or carer feeling overwhelmed or anxious? If you need support to get yourself in the right place to support your child, this could be the course for you.

BIS-net has provided many courses in the past to help parents understand and support thier childs behaviours, to look at strategies and apporaches to try and adjustments to make to create a better chance for success. However, the challenges and stresses can often take their toll and this course is designed to switch the focus back onto you. We want to help you find ways to support yourself, to build resilience and strategies to help with difficult situations, thoughts and feelings.

This course will cover the following outcomes:

  • To share the effects of your situation on your thinking and feeling with others in simialr postions [if you choose]

  • To understand and build and awareness of how to change your thinking and feeling

  • To practice certain strategies that can be used in crisis moments

  • To explore long term changes to belief to enhance overall life resilience.

For this course, the focus won't be on your child or techniques to support them, but rather on you and how to not only survive, but start to thrive.

The course will be run by BIS-net manager Sam Harris who has been working with individuals with behaviours that challenge for over a decade. For the last few years he has been supporting parents and carers to support these individuals through parent workshops and family support services.

Sam will be joined by Hypno-therapist Adam Williams, who delveres workshops around the county to a number of schools and organisations on the topic of Managing Anxiety. He also works with clients using hypnotheraputic approaches to help them achieve relaxation and work through their more difficult feelings.

Both parents and professionals are welcome and time will be spent to ensure all perspectives are heard and respected.

Please contact us for further info if require and please note that professionals are required to book a professional ticket.

Refunds can be given up to 7 days before the event although eventbrite will still take a fee, usually of a few pounds, so this will not be a full refund.
