The Youdan Trophy is on course to become the most prestigious tournament of its kind in the whole of Europe and is bringing world class, international youth football back to the recognised birthplace of the game, Sheffield and celebrating football heritage through the stars of the future.
The inaugural Youdan Trophy was played in 2015 and attracted top flight youth teams from England, Scotland and Australia with Glasgow Rangers beating Charlton Athletic 3-2 in front of 1,000 spectators at the thrilling Bramall Lane final.
The overwhelming success of the 2015 competition is bringing about a four-fold increase in size for 2016. A total of 32 boys teams at U14 and U16 level will battle it out from August 1st to 5th in Sheffield.
Eleven nations will be represented at the tournament this year with familiar names such JHR Rotterdam, FC Basel, Royal Antwerp, Rosenberg & Seattle Sounders, in addition to well known teams from the UK including Everton, Newcastle United, Watford, Stoke City, Middlesbrough, Glasgow Celtic, Glasgow Rangers and both Sheffield Wednesday & Sheffield United, amongst others.
The final of the 2016 tournament will be played on Friday 5th August. The U14 final will kick-off at 12.30pm and the final of the U16's age group will start at 3.00pm.
