Event description

Description

In 2017-18, it was estimated that 84,000 young people in England presented to their local authority as homeless or at risk. The effects of homelessness on this already vulnerable group can have lasting implications no their mental health, educational attainment and employment prospects, and lead to a greater probability of experiencing homelessness again in later life.

This national one-day conference will:

  • explore the factors behind the disproportionate risk of homelessness and insecure housing currently faced by young people;

  • share good practice in areas of youth engagement, intervention and mental health;

  • discuss the additional challenges and disadvantages faced by particular groups of young people and what can be done to mitigate these;

  • provide a space for youth and homelessness sector professionals to network and share ideas, experience and learning

The programme will include keynote presentations, panel discussions and a selection of workshops.

Who is this event for:

Voluntary sector and local authority staff from the youth and homelessness sectors.

Delegates will leave with knowledge and resources to help them support young people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
