Event description

Description

The purpose of this free one day event is to support 16-18 years olds to develop the skills to help solve some of the world’s biggest problems.

Using the UN Sustainable Development Goals as a framework, you will hear from leading social scientists, local businesses and NGOs, and students from Anglia Ruskin University on how they are tackling climate change; loss of wildlife; inequality; poverty; and waste, both here in Cambridge and around the world.

You will work with classmates and other young people from across Cambridgeshire to discuss ways in which you can begin to take action on the issues that you care about.

You will learn about employability and higher education opportunities linked to sustainability.

The event forms part of the Economic and Social Research Council’s annual Festival of Social Science which takes place in cities across the UK from the 4th-11th November, and will be run in partnership with SEEd - the national membership organisation for Sustainability and Environmental Education.
