Whether it's trying to change legislation to improve the lives of others, making sure the legislation that already exists is used fairly, protecting the rights of vulnerable and excluded members of society or empowering communities to know their rights, there are many ways to ‘use the law’ to seek social change.

In planning this event, we wanted to create a space where we could celebrate and highlight the skills you have learned though taking part in the Mock Trial Competitions and how you can utilise them to create a better future.

We have invited speakers from across the legal world to share their own stories and to speak about the role law can play in building a more fair and just world.

👉 Reagan Persaud: Family Law Barrister at Spire Barristers in Leeds described by the Legal 500 as a “forced to be reckoned with". She is the first and only BAME trans barrister in England and Wales and is a strong advocate for LGBT rights, having founded the first ever LGBT network of barristers in the North East of England.

👉 Sophie Stevens: Pupil Barrister at 9BR Chambers, representing a range of clients in criminal and extradition matters. She is co-founder of the Neurodiversity in Law, which aims to destigmatise neurodiversity across the legal profession.

👉 Caitlin Jenkins: third-year law student at Swansea University, with a special interest in wrongful convictions. She is an award-winning student representative of Swansea Law Clinic’s Miscarriages of Justice project, investigating alleged wrongful convictions referred by Inside Justice.

There will be an interactive legal quiz; a highlights reel filled with school and volunteer submissions and we will be announcing the winners of the Court Artist and Court Reporter competition at the event.
