Join us online for an exciting event where young minds will learn about the Young Coders Competition!

This year's theme is "Neighbourhood Navigators", exploring the world of coding and science during British Science Week 2026. For this virtual assembly, we will go through the competition, discuss what a coder is, and feature a talk from an expert ambassador on the subject.

The ambassador will discuss how coding is used to plan, map, or improve local communities and navigation, aligning with the competition theme. They will also incorporate the British Science Week 2026 theme, “Curiosity: what’s your question?”, by encouraging students to ask questions about the world around them and how technology can provide the answers.

Assembly Format

Each 30-minute virtual assembly will include:

  • A short introductory PowerPoint presentation about the competition.
  • A 20-minute talk from our ambassador on their subject, including a Q&A section at the end.

Last year's examples of speaker topics include:

The Young Coders competition is back again for 2026, bringing a fantastic opportunity for you and your young people to gain hands-on experience in coding with Scratch.

It is perfect for kids aged 8-13 (in years Y4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 in England/Wales, P5-S1 in Scotland, Y5-Y8 in Northern Ireland) who are curious about technology and eager to learn new skills. They can work individually or in teams of 2 - 6 children to create their project using the FREE resources as part of the Computing curriculum in your school, in an extracurricular club, or with a parent/guardian at home. The possibilities are endless, and you are in charge of creativity!

Register your interest now for access to FREE resources and frequent competition updates. Take advantage of this opportunity to spark your child's interest in coding and science!

The deadline to enter is Friday, 8th May 2025.

Please note that this assembly will also be recorded to be available on the Young Coders YouTube channel at a later date for anyone who cannot attend due to timezone or scheduling issues.
