23 October: Studio Workshop – Printing Tarot

Accepted Answer

In this workshop we will learn linocut, a printmaking technique which involves carving into a piece of linoleum to create a relief drawing, then printing with ink on paper. We will take inspiration from Suzanne Treister’s tarot deck to consider alternative systems of knowledge and design our own.

13 November: Studio Workshop - Text Paintings

Accepted Answer

Gather inspiration from Suzanne Treister’s Text Paintings which include powerful and evocative statements like “Discover The Secrets of the Universe” or “Dream Monster You Have Reached The Gates of Wisdom.” With a collaborative free-write exercise, build your own inventory of phrases.

20 November: Curator-led Tour of Prophetic Dreaming

We will meet with the Curator of Exhibitions and Live Programmes for an in-depth tour of our current exhibition, Suzanne Treister: Prophetic Dreaming. Come with all of your questions, thoughts and opinions about this show!

4 December: Studio Workshop - Positive Futures

Accepted Answer

In this session we will reflect on the deep sense of optimism in Suzanne’s work. We will then embark on a lively mixed media studio workshop to imagine the future, asking questions like, what does it look like if all of your dreams come true? How can the future become a better place?

11 December: Creative Careers

Accepted Answer

We will gather in the Studio to explore different pathways into creative careers. We will discuss different degrees, opportunities, and ways of working to help you think about your own creative future. You are welcome (but not obligated!) to bring your CV, artist statement, or applications.

18 December: Group Critique and Celebration

Accepted Answer

Bring in some of your own artwork to share with the group and receive supportive feedback. Enjoy a festive year-end celebration.
