Event description

Description

Beginning at 11 am and finishing at 4 pm, this is a day for Bug Club members and other young entomologists to give a talk about insects, and to experience some entomology at the University of Reading.

The day will be hosted by Dr Amanda Callaghan FRES. Dr Graham Holloway will give a talk on chemical ecology in insects, which will be a little more exciting than it sounds! And there will be an insect defence demo. We will also be able to explore the university grounds and pond dipping and do some lab work on aquatic insects. And other things we haven't even thought of yet.

The University of Reading is in the process of finalising its two new MSc courses in entomology, so this is a good opportunity for anyone planning an entomological career to find out more and get to know the department! Reading also runs first degrees in zoology and other biological sciences, and at least one former Bug Club AES member is a student there.
