About this course

The training course is for Explorer Scout Young Leaders, prospective Young Leaders and DofE volunteers to cover Module A: Prepare for Take-off! If you are between 14 and 18 and already are or considering becoming a Young Leader you need to take this compulsory course.

Module A aims to give you the essential information you will need to perform your ESYL role safely.

Booking

Under booking section headed "Contact Information" - Enter the parent/carers name and email address.

Under Ticket 1: - Enter the name and details of the Young Leader attending the course.

This process ensures relevant safeguarding measures are met as all of the emails will be addressed to the parent/carer and the presenters will know the name of the attendee

What happens once you have booked

You will automatically receive an e-mail confirmation (containing all these details and precisely what you have booked).

If you need to amend details or cancel the booking you can do so using the "view and manage your order online" link in your confirmation e-mail.

48 hours before the course is due to start, an automatic e-mail will be sent as a reminder containing the ID and Password to join.

The times stated is the time the modules start, so please aim to log on and check in during the 15 mins before. You will be held in a lobby until the Host lets you in. Please ensure the name that will appear on your screen is yours and not the previous user.

Make sure you have paper, a writing implement and refreshments to hand.

Wearing your scout scarf is optional.

The course will be held on Zoom which you will be able to access using the link and password which will be emailed to you before the event.

Safeguarding

The courses will be presented in accordance to Scout HQ safety guidance. https://www.scouts.org.uk/volunteers/scouts-at-home/taking-scouts-online/staying-safe-online/. There will always be two adults on the training team in the online conference room to ensure safeguarding with password protection to enter the conference, to ensure we are keeping young people safe.

After the course

An e-mail will be sent as the course finishes. This will tell you about the pack that you will receive in the post and ask for your help in shaping future events by providing feedback.
