About this Event

The Human Rights Project is excited to announce a fantastic upcoming event in collaboration with the Young Legal Aid Lawyers! We have been working together to create an unparalleled opportunity to hear about legal aid and its interaction with public law from two of the most passionate lawyers currently working in this sector, Tara Mulcair and Aaqib Javed.

Tara is a solicitor in the civil actions department at Birnberg Pierce in London, specialising in inquests and civil actions against the police, prison service and Home Office. Aaqib is a caseworker at Advocate and a future pupil barrister at Spire Barristers, currently on the Membership Support Team at Young Legal Aid Lawyers, with specific areas of interest in family law, court of protection law and issues surrounding access to justice.

Currently, due to cuts in legal aid funding, access to legal aid for those who need it the most has become harder than ever- therefore it is crucial now more than ever to start an important discussion about the issues surrounding legal aid, and the solutions which are so desperately needed.

Join us on the 19th February 2020 to hear from lawyers working hands-on towards making legal aid accessible to every individual who needs it. This is an opportunity to gain unique insight into one of the biggest challenges currently facing the legal world, so don’t miss out!
