Young People's Planting Day. New Year, New Trees!
Event Information
About this event
The new year brings a fresh start for all of us, and what better way to celebrate than to plant trees and bring new life to the Young People’s Forest?
This planting event is for young people aged up to 21 specifically – parents/guardians are welcome if accompanying a person under the age of 16. Please see our other planting dates for events that are open to everyone.
Planting trees is wonderful for our wellbeing, and we’ll have tips and techniques to share to engage with the natural environment and improve our mindfulness.
This event will feature music and free refreshments for those aged under 21 (refreshments are available to purchase for those aged 21+)
The Young People’s Forest at Mead in Derbyshire covers 162 hectares of former opencast coal mine. In total more than 250,000 trees will be planted whilst maintaining large areas of open space and species rich grassland.
Tree planting is taking place on the Smalley side of the Young People’s Forest – please be aware of this prior to parking at Shipley Country Park.
