About this event

Note: all participants must be accompanied by a parent/adult. The ticket is for all four sessions and covers both adult & child.

Week 1 (12th Sept) - How to view the sky – naked eye, binoculars & telescopes.

Week 2 (26th Sept) – Solar System – Sun, aurora, Planets, Moons, Comets & Meteors

Week 3 (3rd Oct) – The Lifecycle of stars

Week 4 (24th Oct) – Astrophotography – mobile phones to telescopes

The course is intended to cover topics not normally dealt with in school.

Participants will also be offered a free visit to the BAS observatory to look at the sky through some large telescopes.

Frequently asked questions

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

The course is aimed at children in the 9 - 11 years age range: children younger than this would find some of the content very challenging.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There are adequate parking spaces in the Montpelier Central Trading Estate. There are frequent buses from the centre of Bristol to Gloucester Road - Cheltenham Road junction, and from there it is a short walk to the venue up Station Road.

Does the ticket cover just one session, or all sessions

The ticket (£30 plus EventBrite fee)covers all 4 sessions.

Do I have to bring my ticket to the event?

Yes, please bring your ticket, in printed or electronic form, to the first session.
