Join us at Rugby Library where our shortlisted candidates for Young Poet Laureate will be performing their poetry to an audience.
Each year we receive lots of wonderful applications from those aged 13-17 who live and are educated in Warwickshire who want to become our next Young Poet Laureate. The applications will be shortlisted to four amazing young people, who will be invited to join us on our Selection Day at Rugby Library on Saturday 29th November. Our candidates will first have a poetry and performance workshop with professional poet and Coventry Poet Laureate 2021/23, Emilie Lauren Jones, followed by interviews with a panel of poets and library professionals. This will be followed by them performing their poetry to a live audience in the library, plus performances from Emilie Lauren Jones and our current Young Poet Laureate, Ananditha Venkatramanan.
This is where you are invited to join us! Come along to watch and support these talented young people from 2pm, where after all of the performances the judges will decide on the winner, who will become our Young Poet Laureate 2025/26!
