About this Event

Children and young people are facing more pressures than ever before: exam pressure, social media, cyber bullying and pressure over body image. Nationwide, there is a mental health crisis in classrooms. 3 children in every classroom have a diagnosable mental disorder and 90% of school leaders have reported an increase in the last 5 years in the number of students experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood or depression.Schools play a crucial role in developing the skills young people need to cope and flourish in today’s world.

Schools are a constant in young peoples’ lives, and are often a safe, consistent place for vulnerable young people. With more than 1,000 hours spent at school per year,, schools are in an ideal position to help provide this support alongside families and other professionals. Children with better health and wellbeing are likely to perform better academically.Due to National developments in line with the Mental Health agenda that are focused in and around school settings, and the role and responsibilities of schools in relation to children and young people’s emotional health and wellbeing, I would like to invite you to a very special event.

The event will showcase what is currently available in Oxfordshire for supporting children’s mental health in schools. In addition, it will give you a chance to meet some local agencies who can come and support your current provision and give you ideas for the future. There will be mini 5-10 minute speakers/presentations.

Some of the areas we will be focusing on include:

- Links between physical education and mental health and wellbeing what happens at Bladon )

- How to build resilience

- Coping with failure(what happens at Bladon)

- Wake up Shake up / Yoga / Meditation

If you’re interested in finding out more about how we can support children, come and join Matt Gregor at Bladon Primary School on the 25th September 2019 4.00-6.00pm to hear and share ideas that you can take into your work place, home or school to further support children’s mental health and wellbeing.

Please take advantage of this a wonderful opportunity. Now is the time to stand up and make a change!
