Event description

Description

Young BPW UK are delighted to invite YOU to their annual event - this year being held for the first time in Belfast, Northern Ireland!

On Saturday 16 September 2017, we'll be thinking about our strengths as young women and our guest speakers will help us explore the unique contribution that we can make both economically - as part of the workforce and also socially, as engaged members of our communities.

But we know it's not all plain sailing so ...

We'll look at the some of the 'big issues' we all encounter - those stereotypical job roles, the gender pay gap, inequal opportunities for promotion, and we'll talk about tools to help us overcome them.

And we want to hear your opinions, so we'll be making this event as interactive as possible, with lots of opportunities to learn from each other and also to question our speakers about their experiences.

Morning refreshments and lunch will be provided.

Speakers include...

PATRICIA LEWSLEY-MOONEY CBE, councillor, politician, Commissioner for Children and Young People, and now Chair of the Training for Women Network, Patricia has a vibrant and varied professional story to share and will be speaking at our morning session Women in the Workplace.

KAREN WRAY (Enactus UK), a recent graduate herself, Karen is now working towards her professional accounting qualification with Belfast company KPMG. Karen also spearheads the work of Enactus UK here in Northern Ireland, and she'll be speaking about the work of the programme to encourage entrepreneurial activities among young people at our afternoon session Building for the Future.

EILEEN MULLAN (Strictly Boardroom) knows what it's like to sit in the boardroom of some of the biggest companies in Northern Ireland. She's worked with Age NI, Audiences NI and the Big Lottery Fund NI, so if she says that young people have a unique contribution to make to boardroom life, she knows what she's talking about. Eileen will speak about her boardroom apprentice pilot project 'Strictly Boardroom' at our afternoon session Building for the Future.
