Your Brain Loves Yoga - Natasha Wellfare
Event Information
About this event
Your Brain Loves Yoga follows on from Natasha's previous workshop 'Yoga and Meditation in Therapy'. This time, as we emerge from crisis, we will explore the powerful idea that yoga is essential supervision for the therapist.
We will set the scene using neuroscience. As therapists working through a pandemic, what have our brains had to endure? How have we adapted? We will do some experimental work with our bodies and our breath, proving that Yoga really is the fastest way to press the reset button in-between clients. You can expect to learn some simple chair yoga, breathing exercises to either calm or energise and a guided meditation for self-care.
As therapists, a key challenge over the last 6 months has been how to look after our own mental health whilst meeting the needs of our clients. With this in mind we will turn to consider Buddhist principles such as 'acceptance' and 'non-attachment' and discuss how we can interpret these ideas in order to enhance our client work. Carl Rogers said, 'The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.' I will be asking the question, do we as therapists need to accept ourselves, and the limitations of our role, in order that our clients can change?
This 2-hour workshop will be recorded and you can use the ticket function to pre-purchase the recording before the event. This will be useful for colleagues who are not able to attend the event live and also for those who attend the event live and want to watch again.
This workshop will be hosted on the Zoom meeting platform where we will use our camera and microphones to interact with each other as a group.
To support practitioners in this time of extraordinary circumstances we are offering access to this group for a self-select fee.
The self-select fee is a radical inclusion policy to open learning for all colleagues. The guide price for this event is £20.00, however, we appreciate that income varies greatly in different locations and circumstances. Please contribute what you can to help us maintain inclusive professional training.
