This day is an introductory session for anyone wishing to comment on or become involved in planning and development issues relating to the historic environment.

Respond to a planning application relating to a listed building or a conservation area

Become involved in other activities that will support the protection of built heritage in the community plan and local development
We will start the day with an introduction to the protection of built heritage within the planning system and review methods of public access to information on planning applications relating to built heritage.
We will have a guided walking tour of the historic Walled City Conservation Area and view some of the heritage regeneration work completed and underway. The tour will promote discussion about best practice in conservation and how to promote the delivery of the quality standards set out in planning policy guidance in future planning applications.
We will conclude the session by considering a planning application and developing a joint recommendation via the planning portal.
UAHS staff and expert speakers will be on hand to provide practical guidance.

The event will be of interest to building owners, historical societies, conservation and planning staff, regeneration groups, or anyone with a keen interest in historic buildings
