Description

Your MU events in the North : Engage. Network. Learn.

Following a winter break, we’re back with more Your MU events across the region. These events include short focus areas across a range of topics that allow you to stay in touch with important industry issues and developments, followed by open networking sessions where you can meet your officials and get to know other members.

This time we’ll be focusing on:

“Feel the Benefit”: Partnerships. Whether you’re a band, a song writing/production team, a string quartet, a jazz trio or any group of musicians working together it’s important to be clear what the legalities of your relationship are. We’ll look at the key areas and how the MU Partnership Advisory Service can help.

“In Focus”: GDPR. What is GDPR? How does it affect self-employed musicians? Will this affect how I store fan data? Will this affect how I save pupil information?

New data protection regulations come into effect on 25th May 2018 which have implications for self-employed musicians. We’ll let you know what you have to do to comply with the law and what changes you might have to make in relation to your existing music work.

“What's new?”: We’ll bring you up to date with MU activity and campaigns including Brexit, Agent of Change (venues), Music Industry Sexual Harassment, the Live Music Census and the new MU Theatre Kit.

The main session lasts about an hour and will be followed by informal networking where members will get a free drink.

For any questions or if you have any access requirements, please contact the regional offiice on 0161 236 1764 or via manchester@themu.org
