Following on from Your Party Portsmouth's successful 'sellout' inaugural event, where those gathered shared and discussed ideas, we have scheduled a second meeting at a larger venue in the hopes of accommodating all those wishing to attend. This time, we've managed to book several speakers (see below) from both local and national left platforms, who will each give a short presentation giving their perspective and topical insights on Your Party. This will be followed by an audience-led Q&A session.
If you would like to ask a question but feel too shy to ask it, please write it down in advance (or during proceedings) and hand it to one of the now expanded steering committee, who can read it on your behalf. This can be anonymised, if you prefer.
As many of you witnessed, and some will have read in news or social media reports, our last meeting was disrupted by a loud and unruly external group. We are now in liaison with the police to guard against a repeat performance, with contingency plans being put in place. This means we need each of you to book a separate ticket (not booking for someone else on the same form). This is so that we and the police could have access to the contact details of everyone attending, if it became necessary. But it is as much a safeguard against infiltrators as anything else, which we are sure you will understand. For the same reasons, admittance on this occasion will only be given to those who have booked a place.
NB the meeting will also be broadcast via Zoom, for those who are unable to come in person. Those attending this way will not be able to interact with proceedings, except to submit a question or observation in the chat box -- we will do our best to accommodate these.
