Event Details

This workshop is aimed at microbusinesses such as coaches, trainers, therapists and others who essentially trade their time for money. Sell precious products? Speak with me first. We tackle personal issues about money and what you are worth, as well as charging concerns and unseen consequences of decisions we make.

"I gained a wealth of useful insight and came away feeling genuinely enriched"

  • Do you know how much you are actually earning for your time?
  • Is it hard to establish your own fair fee in a competitive market?
  • Do you find it uncomfortable to really talk about affordability with clients?
  • Are you concerned what others think about your decisions on money and charging?
  • Do you give more attention to the cost to the client than the cost to yourself?

Understanding the impact of the financial transaction on our relationships with our clients (and their self-value) is crucial.

"I think you pitched everything you did perfectly"

Cathy has run relationship with money workshops many times over the years and remains fascinated by the topic.  Now, the workshop is refreshed and updated.

Cathy says "My own relationship with money and charging has evolved significantly over time. Have I got it right yet?  I am not sure that there is a "right".  My belief is that as long as we have carefully thought through our relationship with money and can support subsequent decisions without shame or discomfort, we are in a good ballpark. My experience is that having the confidence to explore around money issues can be a significant part of healing and growth - for us trying to manage a small business, and for the client who above all seeks security in their financial commitments".

"I found the workshop very thought-provoking and useful. As a result I am mananging my time better and also tightened up my agreement with existing clients and new clients.  Until the workshop I had not realised how fuzzy it had all become!"

We will explore:

  • Our own relationship with money
  • impact of financial exchange on client relationship
  • how we may activate the scapegoat complex (blame, attack, guilt, feeling victim) and what to do about it
  • spiritual aspects and symbolism of money
  • the impact of self-esteem issues
  • calculating your worth
  • the real value of your fee
  • and have space for other issues brought by the group

This is not intended to be a workshop which tells you what to do, but an exploration which will give you more confidence to make your own decisions, as well as feeling competent in explaining them if challenged.

Still not sure?

Read this great feedback from a BACP Conference where Cathy gave a talk on Relationship with Money. When BACP asked what was the most beneficial aspect of the day, this is some of what they got and the reason why she has been invited back several times:

"Cathy Towers on relationship with money"        "Raising my awareness, Self-awareness about my relationship with money"        "The money stuff. Would have liked to hear more from Cathy Towers"       "Cathy - lots to think about so helpful"

(BACP said were no critical comments about Cathy's part of the conference at all!)

This workshop is for you if:

  • You are self-employed
  • You find charging for your service or precious product, setting a fee, or sticking to it difficult
  • The nature of your work requires personal sensitivity and self-awareness
  • You block yourself financially
  • You are ready to change your relationship with money
