Description

This free, one night event will bring together young people (aged 10-17) with volunteers, youth engagement practitioners and policy makers across family, health and wellbeing services in Swindon.

The event will involve panel talks, interactive exhibits and short films made by the young people.

  • Listen to young people’s experiences of place and leisure in Swindon
  • Explore health and social challenges in Swindon
  • Opportunity to incorporate young people's voices into physical activity and health strategies
  • Find out what young people really think about leisure provision
  • Reimagine future health and sport policy from a young person's viewpoint




Getting there

The STEAM Museum is located in the Rodbourne area of Swindon and is approximately 10-20 minutes' walk from Swindon Town Centre.

When you arrive at the Steam Museum, please go to the reception desk and they will provide you with access to the Sir Daniel Gooch Theatre. The Sir Daniel Gooch Theatre is located on the second floor of the museum, (left of the entrance area).

Car parking

Free car parking is available for guests. Please park in the Swindon Designer Outlet North Car Park (just off Kemble Drive), which is a short walk to the Steam Museum.

When entering the car park, you will recieve an entry ticket. Please give this ticket to the reception desk at the Steam Museum, who will provide you with a free exit ticket to be used when leaving the car park.

By Bus from Swindon Town Centre

Regular bus services run from Swindon Town Centre. Take number 1, 1a or number 8. Ask for the Designer Outlet.

Travelling by Rail

Swindon is easily reached via the London Paddington to Bristol line. STEAM is 10-20 minutes' walk from Swindon Railway Station.

Turn right outside the Station, stay on the right hand side pedestrian path and keep going until you come to a pedestrian sign that directs you through the GWR tunnel that connects to the Churchward site.

Accessibility

STEAM is fully accessible – with lifts and ramps giving wheelchair and pushchair access throughout the museum. Disabled toilet facilities are also available. Click here for full details on accessibility.

No - there will be a registration desk on arrival, but there is no need to print tickets for the event.
