Your space, your voice’ writing workshops

From this May we'd love you to take part in our writing workshops to gain confidence sharing your individual story. ‘Your space, your voice’ is a safe place, online, to learn how to draw on your experience of life with a brain tumour, and learn the skills to write it down.

Focusing on the power of expressing yourself through writing, be it in a journal or through creative writing, the workshops will include gentle writing prompts and exercises. You can write freely, as you choose. We will first step back and reflect, 'what do we feel about writing?' 'Are we confident about writing down our experiences, or does writing bring up some fears?' We'll ask ourselves what our personal barriers to writing might be. Next, we will begin to explore what we have to say. We'll look at the different options available to us as we begin experimenting with new words; what feels comfortable to write and in what style; and where our writing could lead us, if we give ourselves time and space. As we build momentum, in later workshops we'll consider how we might plot or structure our writing, how writing might enhance our wellbeing, and also how to protect our wellbeing as we write challenging material. The workshops will be 1.15 hours each, with a comfort break built in.Whatever your individual experience of life with a brain tumour, or your experience of writing, these workshops are open to all.

We're here to help you live better with a brain tumour, so you can get back to being you.

brainstrust is a UK national brain tumour support charity.

We provide personalised support and build resources that help people with a brain tumour and their loved ones live the life they want after diagnosis. We work with people in the clinical setting to secure the best possible care for people with a brain tumour and we campaign to solve real issues, because we understand what challenges people with a brain tumour face.

Our support is available to everybody affected by any type of brain tumour.
