Event description

Description

Want to meet other people who were in care with stories like yours?

Want to be smarter about how share your experiences?

Want to find out how others are sharing their stories to make an impact?

Your Story Revolution is a place for people with care experience to meet and talk about how we tell our stories in an empowering way.

Learn to own your story, not to let your story own you!

Many people with care experience have learned how to feel comfortable sharing their personal stories safely to change the way people think about how care shapes us. Some of us have gone on to start charities and write books, poems, blogs, and speeches!

Revolutions are spaces for us where we can get away from things for a day, and share ideas and experiences with people who understand. Rees offers a free (optional) overnight stay at a cabin where new friendships are formed.

“They made me feel like we were all a family - with care leavers understanding things - connections we all have - it’s nice and I felt confident at events like I could be myself around people” – Terry

Everybody gets a chance to have their say in a Ted-inspired format, and care experienced people have the option of sharing their voices with the world.

There will be time for expression, group discussion and networking within the group in a safe, friendly, informal environment.

"Empowered me to use personal growth strategies to cope and manage my difficulties. Provided an outlet for creative psychological expression, and release of traumatic experiences. Peer support was enriching"
- anon

Rees will provide meals, accommodation, entertainment, refreshments, and can help with travel costs.

"Loving time in Birmingham having a laugh and the care leavers are amazing"
- Robert

Rees is putting power in the hands of the people with experience and skills to share to support one another.
