Event description

Description

October is Black History Month and, to celebrate the occasion, the Royal College of Nursing has teamed up with Health Education West Midlands and the MERIT Vanguard Trusts in the West Midlands to once again co-hosting a free conference for nursing and NHS staff, no matter what your field of practice, grade or ethnic background, to explore the issues that particularly affect Black and Minority Ethnic patients, service users and health service staff. This year the conference featuring Lemn Sissay MBE, a British author, broadcaster, poet and playwriter is focused on encouraging participants to think differently about how they tell their own personal story to shape change in the future to create your own legacy. We hope you will attend and experience different ways to tell a story through drama, poetry, video or the written word. The day will be facilitated by: John Simmit:http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0799619, and feature some keynote speakers like Wendy Irwin, Royal College of Nursing, Nick Haines, Five Institute: https://www.fiveinstitute.com/about-us, Clare Patey, Empathy Museum: http://empathymuseum.com/ and Haleema Saqhawat from BCU.
