About this Event

How do we respond when someone shares a story of racism with us? What makes a response supportive, and what might shut the story down?

In this free and interactive workshop, you will explore with conversation analysts on how our responses can shape these important conversations. Using conversations across situations, we will reflect on what works well, what can be challenging, and how our words can help create a safe conversation for stories of racism to be told, and heard.

What to Expect

  • Explore different ways of responding to stories of racism in various conversations,
  • Reflect and discuss on how helpful these responses are on these conversations,
  • Share your insights and experiences on what might be challenging in these conversations, and what worked for you in these moments.
