In this 1-2 hour baking session, young people will explore a range of baking techniques, cook some delicious desserts as well as savoury bakes, and take away a Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene certificate that can be used in any food environment! Each week we will explore something different (as stated in the itinerary below) which will help to expand your child’s knowledge of the food around them and what goes into making their favourite treats!
The group will be limited to 10 Young People maximum to ensure we are following Government COVID guidelines. Having a small group will also ensure that we can attend to all the individual needs of the young people and ensure they are getting the most out of the club. Furthermore, any questions anyone has regarding baking and making money from it can be answered by the club leader who runs her own dessert business called Maya’s Minibakes. Overall, this club has been designed to be a fun introduction to the baking world and will help your child revive essential cooking skills and hygiene practices.
Week 1: EXPERIMENT WEEK (PART 1)
What better way to kickstart the club than with a science experiment?!
In week 1 we will be making a volcano cake that actually erupts! We will be moulding cake to make the volcano shape, decorate our volcanoes and then add some special ingredients to see our volcano come alive!
Week 2: BISCUIT WEEK
In week 2 we will be learning how to make aquarium cookies. These are stained glass cookies filled with sprinkles or any other small edible items. They are fun little biscuits that are cute as gifts for any occasion such as Christmas (as it’s coming up)or Eid!
Week 3: DOUGH WEEK
In week 3 we will be learning how to make pizza dough to make mini sweet and savoury pizzas. These are perfect for parties and will impress anyone!
Week 4: CHOCOLATE WEEK
In week 4 we will be learning how to make customisable fudge chocolate brownies. We will learn how you can take one simple recipe and make it your own by adding items to it such as Orange extract if you want to go for a Terry’s chocolate theme, or hazelnuts to make it taste more like Nutella!*
*Please inform us if you have a nut allergy and we will take extra precautions to keep nuts away from the premises*
