Every September thousands of people across the UK head to the coast to take part in the Great British Beach Clean. Join Avon Wildlife Trust and the Marine Conservation Society at Severn Beach to get involved this year!
Marine Conservation Society's Learning Officer, Stephen Kelly, will be leading us on a beach clean along Severn Beach shorefront. Then, we'll head for a walk along the seafront to Pilning Wetlands to meet Bristol Ornithological Club - who will help us spot wonderful waders in this valuable habitat - we'll be hoping to spot things like curlews, turnstones and others!
The walk will return to the original meeting point, with plenty of stops for birdwatching. Please feel free to join for just the beach clean, or the full event - if you are planning to join us for the full day, please bring a packed lunch and appropriate clothing to ensure you are comfortable. All equipment will be provided, although if you'd like to bring your own gloves you are welcome to do so.
This event is suitable for young people with any level of knowledge or experience! Come along and say hello, meet new people and make a difference to a nature space.
This event is part of Avon Wildlife Trust's Youth Programme for those aged 14-25. We ask attendees to please have parental consent if under 18, and bring an accompanying adult if under 16 to comply with Marine Conservation Society's insurance - the accompanying adult will be asked to sign a parental/guardian consent form on the day. Parents and siblings of those aged over 16 are also welcome to attend.
Please meet on the promenade (Severn Way), just along from Station Road (BS35 4PL) at 12pm (noon). On the day, look out for the Marine Conservation Society flags and a staff member wearing an orange hi-vis vest. what3words ///pipes.gosh.pixel
