Event description

Description

Play by ear and develop your creativity, explore folk music, and learn from inspiring professional musicians. Take part in a day of creative folk music workshops with other young musicians and, if you want to, audition for the National Youth Folk Ensemble.

To register for a Youth Folk Sampler Day you will need to:
• be aged 12-18
• live in England
• be able to play confidently on your chosen instrument

Each Sampler Day features:
• music workshops with folk musicians Sam Partridge, Rob Harbron and Miranda Rutter
• Q&A with Ensemble staff
• optional short audition, if you wish to apply for the National Youth Folk Ensemble (applicants need to be aged 14-18 on 1 September 2020)

Youth Folk Sampler Days are free to attend and open to players of any instrument. Playing and learning will be done by ear.

If you’ll be aged 14-18 on 1 September 2020 and you're interested in joining the National Youth Folk Ensemble, you’ll need to attend a Sampler Day to start the audition proces. Visit efdss.org/youthfolk to find out more about auditioning.

The National Youth Folk Ensemble is an English Folk Dance and Song Society programme, funded by Arts Council England with additional funding from Garfield Weston Foundation.

Our Youth Folk Sampler Day partners are The Lancashire County Council Heritage Learning Team and Lancashire Music Hub
