Youth MHFA Lite offers an introduction to young people’s mental health and to mental health issues.
What will I learn on MHFA YOUTH Lite?
_Work more effectively with young people living with mental health issues
_Identify stigma and discrimination surrounding mental health issues
_Support young people with a mental health issue and relate to their experiences
_Experience a taste of the contents of the full 2 day Youth MHFA course.
The Youth MHFA Lite course is a three hour session.
Our instructors provide a safe learning environment and are trained to support you throughout the whole course. If you don’t feel comfortable joining in certain parts, then there is no pressure to.
You’ll receive a Youth MHFA Lite manual that you can take away with you at the end of the course and a certificate from MHFA England.
Who can attend the course?
The training is provided by Waltham Forest Public Health and Waltham Forest CCG for local front-line Education, Health & Social Care workers who support young people. You don’t need any qualifications or experience in mental health to take part.

What other types of MHFA training are available?

MHFA Lite - an introductory three hour mental health awareness course.
MHFA Standard - an intensive 2 day course giving people the confidence, understanding and practical skills to support someone who is experiencing mental ill health on a first aid basis.
MHFA YOUTH Lite - an introductory three hour mental health awareness course around the needs of young people (11-18). This is particularly suitable for Teachers, Classroom Assistants, Youth workers and anyone who works with children in education or youth services.

Evaluation and publicity
You will be asked to complete an evaluation form at the end of the training event. We may take some photographs to help publicise future events. If you do not want to be in these that's absolutely fine - just let the trainer know.
