About this Event

What do you learn on a Youth MHFA course? Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised training course, designed to teach people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis.

Youth MHFA provides frontline professionals, coaches, volunteers, teachers, and anyone working with young people the skills and confidence to spot common signs and triggers of mental health issues, as well as the knowledge and confidence to help. Through a mix of presentations, discussions and activities, the course covers these key topics: What is mental health?; Depression and anxiety; Suicide and psychosis ; Self harm and eating disorders .

Within each section there is clear focus on the issues faced by young people today, including : bullying/cyber bullying and substance misuse.

Completing the one-day Youth MHFA course designates you as a Youth MHFA Champion. A Youth MHFA Champion will have confidence to reassure and support a young person in distress and guide them to further support – engaging with parents, carers and external agencies where appropriate

“Having been a leader in several countries, I would place Matt as one of the most highly inspirational trainers and coaches in both education and mental health I have ever met.”

Sharon Jones (M.A.Ed., BACP, ACTO), Director of the Stress Less Clinic
