    About this event

    The session

We would like to invite to you join some information sessions that we are running on the Youth Programme Quality Intervention (YPQI). These are in the form of a couple of 'lunch and learn' style sessions, to tell you more about the YPQI process and how you can get involved.

The Centre is working collaboratively with EWC and ETS Wales, CWVYS, and the Principal Youth Officers Group, to ensure synergy between organisations and alignment with other existing initiatives in Wales. This includes close liaison with the Quality Mark.

The sessions will be interactive Zoom based seminars.

We'll begin by sharing a short presentation on what the programme involves, before opening the floor for questions and discussion. Please feel free to bring your lunch!

If you've got any questions before signing up to attend, drop us a line at ypqi@youthimpact.uk.

The Youth Programme Quality Intervention (YPQI)

The YPQI is a continuous quality improvement process designed to support organisations working with young people to improve the quality of what they do, and thus the impact of their work on the lives of young people. The process involves a cycle of three stages: Assess, Plan and Improve and starts with observation of youth work practice.

Our process in no way replaces existing Quality Mark process, but can be used to support applications to the Youth Work Quality Mark. The process could or might be used by organisations to aide in preparedness for Quality Mark Assessment and to improve the quality of the organisation’s practice.

This ground-breaking quality improvement process has been designed for and tested with youth organisations. Developed in the US, extensive research has demonstrated its effectiveness in improving outcomes for young people, promoting a sustainable and supportive culture of organisational reflection and improvement, and refocusing evaluation on the quality of relationships within different settings.

Since late 2018, The Centre for Youth Impact has supported a diverse range of organisations to pilot this quality improvement process across the UK, with the support of funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.

The Centre’s pilot programme covers England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and runs until September 2021. The overall aims for the pilot are to test, adapt and embed the YPQI within youth organisations across the UK, establish the infrastructure required to train and support these organisations, and build the evidence base of the correlation between quality of provision and positive outcomes for young people.

Our goal is to build the foundations for a broad and sustainable adoption of the YPQI across the UK, to support improvements to the quality of youth practice over the long term.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
