Event Details

Youth Theatre Arts Scotland warmly invites you – and the young people you work with – to join us for our Youth Theatre Sector Symposium 2016.

Now in its sixth year, the Sector Symposium is a vital hub for consultation, discussion and networking.  Annually attended by around 100 delegates, it is an opportunity for everyone who cares about youth theatre arts – including our young people themselves – to come together to celebrate achievements, learn about opportunities and help shape the future of Scotland’s Youth Theatre provision.

The theme of this year’s Symposium is ‘Homegrown’.  During the day we will explore the growth of young people's voice in contemporary productions and the opportunities presented by ‘growing your own’ young leaders through regional activity.

The day will include a national update from Youth Theatre Arts Scotland CEO, Kenny McGlashan, as well as Creative Scotland's Time to Shine Programme Manager, Colin Bradie.  Both are sure to include many developments for the year ahead which your staff, young people and youth groups can get involved in.  There will also be a series of discussion groups throughout the day designed to evolve and inspire a united sector.

You are encouraged to invite up to two young people (aged 16+) from your organisation to take part in the ‘Youth Symposium’ pathway at the event. This year the Youth Symposium is specifically designed for young facilitators and youth theatre assistants from groups around the country.

As always, there are limited places to sign up for a Symposium ‘Shout Out. These fun and fast-paced 2-minute slots offer you the chance to tell us about your youth theatre activity and the homegrown activity in your region.

After the event all Symposium delegates will be invited to join us for the launch reception of the Chrysalis festivalat the Traverse Theatre (you can buy tickets for Chrysalis performances at
