You’ve done the training. You know the theory. Now it’s time to make it work - in real life, with real young people.
Youthwork in Action is a fast-paced, 2.5-hour workshop designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice. It’s not an “intro” - it’s a hands-on companion to formal youthwork training, packed with proven strategies and practical tools to help you get the best from the young people you support.
What we cover:
• Behaviour management that actually works
• Building trust and positive relationships
• Understanding young people’s needs - and meeting them
• Role modelling, body language, tone and presence
• How teenage brains perceive threat and safety - and how to foster calm
• Engaging games and playful approaches that build connection
• Helping young people develop resilience and confidence
You’ll leave with:
• Tried-and-tested techniques you can use immediately
• A deeper understanding of how to apply youthwork theory in practice
• Confidence to lead with care, clarity and purpose
This session is ideal for anyone working with young people - in youth clubs, schools, care settings, outreach, or support roles. It’s also a great refresher for experienced practitioners looking to sharpen their approach.
Follow-up workshops may be available for those who want to reflect, build on what they’ve tried, and grow their skills in a supportive, peer-led space. Let’s turn theory into action and make a lasting impact.
Once you have booked on, the joining link will be sent to you directly from Community First. The link will not come from Eventbrite.
