About this event
- Event lasts 7 hours
Passionate about protecting Scotland’s seas but don’t know where to start? Interested in marine advocacy but feeling isolated? Already taking ocean action but want to build your knowledge and skills?
Join YSCS for our annual Community Gathering! This year we’re headed to Glasgow and the home of the Clyde for an inspiring day bringing together young people from across Scotland to socialise, strategise and upskill in all things marine advocacy. We’ll have a fun and relaxed day with workshops by expert speakers, an opportunity to meet and discuss your views with an Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP), and a chance to put your heads together and come up with YOUR next ocean action! You'll also get an early look at the Youth Manifesto for Scotland's Seas before its final publication.
This event is specifically aimed at young people aged 16-25 who live in Scotland.
Young Sea Changers Scotland is a charity dedicated to empowering young people aged 16-25 with the skills, knowledge and confidence to speak up for Scotland’s seas. You can read more about us at www.youthforseas.org.
Ticket costs
This year we’re using a sliding scale for our ticket prices - you'll be asked to pick a ticket type at check out. This is to ensure that the event is accessible for anyone on limited income. This is a system based on reflection and honesty so please choose whichever option you feel most reflects your circumstances – we won’t ask for proof or any justification.
Other costs
If you need support with the cost of travelling to the event (i.e. you would not be able to attend otherwise), we encourage you to apply for the Individual Grant from our Youth Ocean Action Fund, where you can request up to £150 for travel, accomodation or any other costs you might have to attend. See all details here: https://www.youthforseas.org/action-fund
Please note: the deadline for the Summer Round is 11th August to enable us to sort all the admin and send you the funds before the event.
Parental consent
If you're under 18, we'll ask you to provide complete a consent form signed by a parent/guardian. You'll be asked your age at check out and then we'll email you the form. The form will be very quick and easy and is just to allow us to make sure we keep everyone safe.
