YSM Presents: Keep on Running.

Join us for some dinner, education and networking.

We look forward to welcoming you to our event - Keep on Running.

This evening’s talks will provide you with update and overview on all aspects of common running disorders.

Our expert faculty will begin with a presentation on the biomechanics of running injuries and progress through to discuss the latest non-operative options and rehab available. This will be followed by a review of what to do when conservative management fails.

The evening will conclude with a presentation from Rob Pope, an ultra-runner who will provide his unique insight into a runners mind and the effects of injuries. There will be plenty of time for questions and networking throughout the event

This event is open to doctors, physiotherapists, sports therapists, sports scientists, nurses, chiropractors, podiatrists and other allied health professionals with an interest.

7.30pm Mr Lee Short: MSK Podiatrist and Biomechanist (Podiatry Clinics)

Gait Analysis, Parameter and Evidence

Lee will present on the biomechanics of running and common running problems.

Lee obtained his Podiatry degree (BSc) in 1994. In 2005 he obtained a post graduate Master’s Degree in Clinical Podiatric Biomechanics, one of the first specialist degrees of its kind in the country. Most of his experience has been in the field of podiatric biomechanics and musculoskeletal podiatry, with specialisation in functional rehabilitation.

7.55pm Dr Jon Power: Sport and Exercise Medicine Consultant (Football Association and YSM Clinic)

Non Operative Management of Common Running Disorders

Jon will discuss the non-operative treatment options and rehabilitation of common running pathologies.

Jon is one of the Directors of Yorkshire Sports Medicine, Jon is a Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine (and Fellow of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine) and currently works in professional sport with England Football and in Sport and Exercise Medicine clinics in the UK and Internationally.

He has experience in the management of a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries across all age ranges and levels of physical activity.

He has worked extensively in professional sport and aims to apply the same high standards required in the elite athletic environment to all of his patient assessments.

8.35pm Mr James Stanley. Foot and Ankle Consultant (York NHS Teaching Hospitals)

Foot and Ankle Disorders: When to Refer

James will discuss “what to refer and when”in the case of running problems when all else fails.

James is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who manages sports injuries, trauma and degenerate foot and ankle disorders. James has trained in many of the major centres in the UK and Ireland with an international fellowship in the treatment of foot and ankle pathology and pain.

9.00pm Mr Rob Pope: Vetenarian and Runner

Keynote: The World of Running

9.30pm- Onwards Networking and Drinks. There is a bar open for alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. Attendees are invited to continue networking in this area.

Rob Pope is an emergency veterinarian by night and runner by day. No beginner marathon runner, Rob became the Australian Marathon Champion at the Australian Marathon Championships in 2015, won the Liverpool Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in 2015 and 2016. He also now holds a Guinness World Records for the fastest marathon completed while dressed as a film character.

Rob is running the Marathon des Sablesin April 19.
