Event description

Description

Fundraising - it's not a dirty word! In this dynamic and highly practical session, you will use a variety of exercises to unpack the unique selling points and impact of your work and consider how to translate these into a variety of development platforms, such as funding applications, reports and advocacy.

By the end of this session, participants will:

  • know what makes a fundable project
  • have drafted answers to the most common application or reporting questions
  • created a realistic planning and project management timeline

Please provide one week before the event:

  • your name, the name of your organisation if you have one
  • legal structure (just you, informal group, charity etc)
  • your personal level of fundraising experience
  • the thing you most want to get out of this session

Please bring on the day:

  • a vision for your proposed project!
  • any draft budget or timeline you already have

About the Facilitator

Phyllis Martin is a development manager, producer and production manager with 15 years’ experience supporting companies and artists. She has worked predominantly in Edinburgh and Glasgow, but also Bristol, London and the US. She began dedicated development consultancy in 2015, launching Truffle Pig in 2017. Truffle Pig raises hundreds of thousands of pounds a year and has worked with over 50 organisations across theatre, music, youth sector, tech start-ups and campaigning.

With experience in securing corporate sponsorship, venture capital and crowdfunding, as well as traditional trusts, foundations, Lottery and European fundraising, Phyllis regards her work as safe-breaking - helping unlock the mysteries of grant-writing so good things can get funding. Her hands-on experience managing tours, exhibitions, Fringe venues, youth development projects and installations gives her a well-informed and down-to-earth approach.
