Objectives of the training session

At this training session you will thoroughly explore all aspects of this interactive simulation, looking at ways to highlight and manage issues raised. A comprehensive training pack (based on research and expert consultation) containing discussion points, guidance and references is included. 12 months free access to ‘Zak’ will be awarded once training is successfully completed.

Background to 'Zak'

A simulation for young people in schools focusing on online grooming and the radicalisation process. 'Zak' has been used in many Kent schools since September 2013.

  • Increase the awareness of young people around the process of grooming/radicalisation of individuals.
  • Enable young people to identify and discuss factors/indicators of grooming/radicalisation in their peers.
  • Encourage self-reflection on their own behaviour.
  • Facilitate understanding regarding where and to whom young people should report their concerns.
  • Identify some of the procedures in place to support individuals in a safe pre-criminal space.
