Kind Greetings to you
Please join us on Thursday evenings at 18:35 and Friday mornings at 07:15 for zazen (seated meditation) at Jing Massage, 28-29 Bond Street, Brighton, BN1 1RD.
A donation of £7 is suggested in order to pay for the hire of the space and its upkeep.
We sit for 25 minutes, walk in kinhin (walking meditation) for 5 minutes (kinhin is only on Thursdays only), and sit again for 25 minutes. This is followed by the beating of the time on the drum. We end the practice with a short number of chants which include the Hannya Shingyo (Sutra of Great Wisdom) and the four Bodhisattva vows.
When we practise zazen, we practise ‘Shikantaza’ or ‘just wholehearted, exact, sitting’. This is silent, seated, objectless meditation. We sit still and upright, offering our complete attention to each moment.
Please arrive early if it is your first time meditating with Brighton Zen so we can offer you a short introduction to the practice and sufficiently prepare you for sitting. You do not need to confirm your attendance here, you are welcome to simply turn up on the day.
If you would like to attend regularly, and pay by monthly standing order, thereby helping us to manage our budget, and potentially saving you money, please ask for details.
